FIRST LADY JINDAL SERVES AT SALVATION ARMY THIRD DAY IN-A-ROW 09/09/2008
First Lady Supriya Jindal spent Sunday afternoon with those in the greatest need in Plaquermine. Just after noon, Mrs. Jindal arrived to meet those in a hard struck community and offered them a hot meal and personal words of encouragement. She graciously took time to speak to each person in the long line; learning about them and their situation.
"We have power on at the house, but don't have money to buy any groceries. I'm so glad you're here." -- Plaquermine resident Dianna Welch said.
"It was so wonderful to meet the First Lady. It's really great to see her; we needed to know someone knew about us here." - Ms. Welch added.
The Salvation Army will be serving at the Wal-Mart parking lot on Belleview Rd. in Plaquermine this evening for dinner, as well as lunch and dinner tomorrow.
