Mrs. Major Hazel Street 
Mrs. Major Hazel (Otis) Street was promoted to Glory Oct. 31,
2006, from Pensacola, Fla., after several months of illness. The service
celebrating her life was held at the
Atlanta Temple Corps with
Major Gerald Street, Majors Osbourne and Marleine Mills and Major David Waite
officiating. The interment was in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Hazel Ophelia Etheridge was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Saulston, N.C.,
to Willie Spicer and Bessie Mae Etheridge and was converted at the age of 19 at
the Goldsboro, N.C., Corps. She entered training in Atlanta and was
commissioned in May 1940. She assisted for the next three years in
Winston-Salem, Wilson and Reidsville, N.C.
She was married
to Captain Otis Street, a session-mate, on June 1, 1943, and they served as
corps officers in West Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida and
Tennessee. After serving for 45 years as active officers, they entered honored
retirement in July 1985 and made their home in Chattanooga, Tenn., where they
continued their evangelistic service. Hazel's beloved Otis was promoted to
Glory Oct. 28, 2005.
Hazel and Otis complimented each other
in their united service, presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ in a zealous and
forthright manner. They were known for their evangelistic fervor. Hazel was
especially effective in the women's ministry, as well as youth and
children's work.
She is survived by daughters Janet
Street and June (Ed) Hicks; sons Ken (Carol) and Major Gerald (Teresa) Street;
brother Billy (Chris) Etheridge; sister Hannah Jones; seven grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
