SALVATION ARMY RESPONDING TO THOSE AFFECTED BY EASTERN COASTAL STORMS
Over the past two days, parts of Virginia had anywhere from 8 to 13 inches of rain, and the Tidewater Area felt the effects of 70 to 75 mph wind gusts throughout last night. With the flooding that has already occurred there is still the potential of increased flooding with high tide tonight, and in the morning. 84,000 people in Virginia are reported without power.

SALVATION ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF TEAM IN SUMATRA, INDONESIA, OFFERS MEDICAL HELP AND MORE
The Salvation Army in Indonesia continues to provide emergency assistance and medical services to people affected by the earthquake in West Sumatra. Having focused attention and established a presence in the Pangang Pariaman sector, the Army is seeing an average of 200 patients each day in a makeshift medical tent, the only service available for miles. In addition, 1,000 tents, 2,000 blankets and 5,000 packets of milk powder were distributed in the first days of the crisis.

Since September 26, when Typhoon Ondoy (known in the global media as Ketsana) swept across The Philippines and impacted the lives of more than four million people, The Salvation Army has been working tirelessly. Its Central Philippines Divisional Headquarters in Quezon City was transformed into an aid centre and is stocked with sacks of rice, cans of sardines, boxes of noodles, piles of blankets and mats and bottles of medicine.

THE SALVATION ARMY STANDS READY FOR HURRICANE SEASON
Atlanta, GAࠖ With today being the official start of hurricane season, The Salvation Army is preparing for an active season. Dr. Bill GreṒs April 2009 hurricane forecast calls for 12 tropical storms, 6 of which will become hurricanes with 2 becoming major hurricanes. However, even if the season is relatively quiet, just one strong storm could pose a serious threat and cause catastrophic damage if it makes landfall in a populated area.
