How to donate goods

Send this page to a friend Email envolope
Your donation is tax-deductible, as provided by law.

The proceeds from your donation go directly to help meet the varying needs of many people in Monroe County. The Family Store program receives no government or United Way funding, but for many years has relied solely on the public's donations.

Donations are accepted only during store hours. Receipts can only be issued after a Salvation Army staff member has verified the items for which a receipt is requested. Therefore, we cannot issue receipts for donations left outside our stores or in a drop box. Items of any value left in such a manner will most likely be stolen before we are able to secure them.

To arrange a pickup, call 305.294.6505 or CLICK on the TRUCK below. Give your name, phone number, and address of the pickup.

Value Guide for Donated Items

REMEMBER, WE'RE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FURNITURE, CLOTHING AND OTHER USABLE ITEMS.  YOUR DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE, AS PROVIDED BY LAW.

Occasionally, there is a misunderstanding regarding the pickup of donated items from donors' homes. Drivers arrive and cannot pick up certain household goods. Following is information to help clarify what donated items The Salvation Army may accept.

Items that Drivers cannot pick up include: All built-ins, furniture that is broken and cannot be repaired, waterbeds, dishwashers, and garbage disposals. The Florida Keys Salvation Army does not have major repair facilities. Other items that cannot be picked up are: TVs & radios that no longer work, non-working copy machines, wall/water heaters and water softeners.

Drivers will pick up: clothing, living room and bedroom furniture, kitchen/dining room items, area/throw rugs, pictures, accessories (knick-knacks) and kitchen utensils/dishes.

When calling for a pickup, 305.294.6505, the Customer Service Representative will ask about the items to be picked up. Please don't hesitate to give a complete listing. They can usually say on the phone whether an item can or cannot be picked up, but our driver makes the final decision based upon his visual inspection at the time of the pickup. If there is a question regarding an unusual item, please ask. The representative will then arrange a date and time for your donations to be picked up.

Items may also be dropped off at any of the 5 Florida Keys Family Stores during store hours only. Call the above phone number to find the store most convenient for your drop off, or check out the five locations by clicking here.
